GAINFULLY EMPLOY ABUNDANT SKILLED LABOUR POOL

GAINFULLY EMPLOY ABUNDANT SKILLED LABOUR POOL

Demographic challenge of country is to skill in abundant for their gainfully employment. Our education system does not produce adequate numbers of The Carpenters; The Masons; The Welders; The Electricians; The Plumbers etc are badly required to meet our daily urgent domestic and commercial needs. In spite of their great potential of employability these   are not natural career choice. Even people engaged in these professions do not want their children to learn these skills as our culture discourage people from taking these skills especially in the proximity of their native places. This is the reason we find maximum people with these skills are migrants from other states. It is necessary to work on aspirational quotient for vocational education and skilling to optimize our country’s human capital’s productivity.

Vocational Bias:-
College and University education data establishes a bias against vocational courses. Students are still running after traditional degrees without considering the job opportunities thereof. They are only interested in white collared jobs because as per them there is no dignity in blue collared jobs in India.
Whereas new job opportunities lie in new sectors like technology, infrastructure, automobiles, corporate communication, management and public relation etc but the colleges are not catering of these sectors. It is required to merge degree and vocational education to add dignity to the skilling sector to send a message that education and skills go together not parallel to each other to serve the purpose of employability.
